Valentine Cookies
Nothing is tastier than iced, beautiful sugar cookies. I have been making cookies for years, but the best way to make and enjoy them is with a granddaughter. Molly and I recently spent a morning baking and eating these delights, Hope you will make some with someone you love!
- 1 Cup butter
- 1 Cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 1 egg
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 Cups all purpose flour
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Cream butter and sugar for 3 minutes.
Beat in egg and extracts.
In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients in small increments. Blend until the dough is pulling away from the sides of the mixer bowl.
Do not chill the dough.
Divide the dough into 2-3 batches and roll out onto a floured surface. Dough should be between 1/4 and 1/8 inch thick.
Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes.
Bake for 8-10 minutes.
Let cool on cookie sheet until firm.
Ice cookies with your favorite icing (preferably one with almond flavoring).
