My Southern Beginnings
Southerners are privileged. I admit it. And, I am proud to be a privileged Southerner. For the most part, the deep South moves at a somewhat slower pace, Christianity and decency are standard. Common sense is also common. The people I know work hard and are glad to do so. We don't mind hard work and appreciate its rewards. Kindness and good manners are prevalent. So, yes, I am thankful for the privilege of being raised as a Christian with morals and the expectations that I listen, learn, and contribute,
I grew up in small town Greensboro, Alabama, the daughter of a teacher and lawyer. Both of my parents had high expectations of me, and taught my brother and me so much. Both parents were avid gardeners, and my mother enjoyed crafting, cooking, baking, and painting. My maternal grandmother was an artist as well. I realize now, as an adult, how fortunate I was to have learned from all the hard working and talented folks who came before me. I look forward to sharing my experiences as a true Southerner with my readers.
